As long as I can remember I’ve needed to see what lies around the corner, out of sight, inviting a curious eye. I’ve sought hard-to-reach things, places and ideas, despite the mental and physical challenges needed to reach them. The harder and more focused I’ve become at finding these places on my own terms the more rewarding their realizations have become. Along the way I honed my eye through the camera, and found a voice through writing. Never a classroom learner, I taught myself, and have also been fortunate to meet peers one couldn’t possibly script into one’s life, who taught me much along the way. I am grateful for their presence and guidance.
I first found freedom through cycling. Bikes carried me out of the house and onto greater and greater adventures in life. In my mid-thirties, I discovered packrafting—a tool to access new and bolder parts of the world—and climbing—a vertical world that added a whole different dimension to travel and exploration, as well as mental and physical challenges. My ideal trip is a bike-powered, first ascent climbing mission, with packrafting segments that allow a deeper darker corridor of exploration along the route.
